Produced by Viva Films, the local version of the film will be directed by Ramon Perez Jr., the same director who was praised for directing the erotic thriller film Adan starring Cindy Miranda and Rhen Escaño.
The Housemaid revolves around the story of Eun Yi/Cindy, a housemaid working for an upper-class family, who gets involved in a catastrophic love triangle. The film was first released back in 1960 and directed by the late Kim Ki-young. In 2010, a new version of the film, directed by Im Sang-soo, was produced and nominated for the Palme d’Or, the highest prize awarded at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival.
The film adaptation will be the biggest project for Kylie Verzosa after playing support in films such as Rodel Nacianceno’s Ang Panday (2017), Ruel S. Bayani’s Kasal (2018), Don Cuaresma’s Abay Babes (2018), Irene Villamor’s Ulan (2019), Dado Lumibao’s Sons of Nanay Sabel (2019), RC de los Reyes’ Love the Way You Lie (2020), and the more recent Love Lockdown, megged by four directors – Andoy Ranay, Darnel Villaflor, Noel Escondo and Manny Palo.
Aside from Verzosa, the film will also feature Louise Delos Reyes, Alma Moreno, Jobelyn Manuel, Elia Ilano, Albert Martinez, and Cannes Best Actress winner Jaclyn Jose.
The production team has just recently begun the lock-in taping on Monday, Oct. 25. The cast and crew are set to shoot the film’s scenes in Batangas, Bulacan, and Tagaytay.
Although the film does not have a playdate yet, “The Housemaid” will be one of the biggest movies that Viva will release next year.
